His four 3-pointers and 22 points in Wednesday’s win over Hueneme gave him the program’s single-season 3-point record with 48. Projected as one of the top pitchers in Southern California, Virant was dominant in the Pacific View League opener. He pitched a two-hit shutout and struck out 13 batters to spark Camarillo’s 1-0 victory over Channel Islands last Tuesday.
With the Scorpions in line for a strong season, the senior outside is helping spark a star. Camarillo finished second in its own tournament, then led a win over Oaks Christian. He has 68 kills, 23 assists and seven blocks this season.
