Local Businesses Support Tritons

Tremendous community support for the Pacifica High School Tritons state championship football team continued today with the announcement that local businesses have stepped up to buy championship rings for team members.

“We are so grateful to the businesses and individuals who are honoring our student-athletes,” said Karen Sher, board president of the Oxnard Union High School District board of trustees. “Their support is truly overwhelming.”

“We have always known that our business partners loved OUHSD,” said Superintendent Penelope DeLeon, EdD, “but they really showed it this week.”

The Pacifica HS Tritons finished the season with a record of 15 wins and 1 loss. They won the first-ever state title for a Ventura County high school football team with a 34-6 victory over Oakland-McClymonds in the CIF Division 2-A state championship bowl at Cerritos College on Dec. 14. The district and the City of Oxnard honored the team and coaches with a parade through the city on Wednesday.
