Board Meeting Student Recognition September 26, 2018

Nutrition Services – Farm to School Awards

Nutrition Services and the Farm to School program would like to recognize students from Hueneme HS and Frontier HS for their efforts in providing Health Fairs for their students last year. This event is part of our stated Wellness Policy goals and both these schools have done a great job at coordinating successful events. We want to bring these events to light as we move forward into this year and encourage other sites to take on the same project.

Oxnard High School – Student Recognition

Claudia Orejel is a migrant student, has competed in Migrant Speech and Debate, and by the end of her senior year, will have completed 12 H/AP courses, all with grades of A or A+ except for one semester grade of B. She has attended summer school every year so she can participate in our AVID program. All of her teachers, including those she had as a freshman, have told me that the perseverance, grit, and determination shown by Claudia is in the top 1% of all students they have ever worked with. Claudia is respected by staff and her peers and represents the best qualities of an OHS student.
