Good day, OUHSD families,

As you all know, we have closed schools for the remainder of the week to protect our students and staff from the poor air quality stemming from the fires throughout the county.  We will notify families Friday evening of the intent to reopen, should the air quality improve significantly between now and then.  Due to the state of emergency, we are eligible to apply for an exemption for the instructional time we have missed.  An exemption means we do not need to make up the time at a later date.  There will be no impact on course completion, grades or transcripts.  Student safety is always our first priority, and all decisions are made with that in mind.

In service,

Dr. Penelope DeLeon
Superintendent of Schools
Oxnard Union High School District
