On Friday, Feb. 19th, 15 GTech and MBA girls hosted 10 girls from Fremont Middle School and 18 girls from Haydock Middle School for a Girl’s STEAM Day Event. The day began with pastries donated by our local Panera Bread and a tour of Spatz Laboratories in Oxnard. The tour was led by Susan Heck and OHS Alumni Laura Brennan. Several other employees, including the owner John Nelson, spoke to the students about their career path to success and the popularity of the Colourpop line. The group had lunch at a local park and then toured The Studio WLV in Newbury Park. The students rotated through five departments: Marketing, Web Design, Video, Audio, and Management learning about the roles each plays. Overall, the day was a successful day of CTE learning and will hopefully inspire more girls to join STEAM programs.
