26 cadets from Oxnard High School’s Air Force Junior ROTC Program visited Point Mugu for the Air Show, featuring the U. S. Navy’s Blue Angels—a precision aerial demonstration team of six FA-18 Hornet fighter jets.

The cadets were greeted by our Superintendent, Dr. Gabe Soumakian, and his executive assistant, Mrs. Maureen Sheldon. The group was hosted by Mz. Monica James, Naval Base Ventura County Educational liaison.

Cadets toured the static aircraft displays, including entering inside the C-5 Galaxy, the C-130 Hercules, and the C-17 Globemaster.

Cadets had a front row seat when the Blue Angels began their aerial maneuvers, which started with their support aircraft, a C-130 known as “Fat Albert.” The 6 Blue Angel FA-18s flew for more than 40 minutes, performing precision aerial maneuvers in tight formation, four together in one formation, and two lone wolves, flying separately from the group.

The cadets were literally amazed at the speed, sound, and maneuverability of the Blue Angels. Many of them had never seen high-speed fighter jets flying before. They couldn’t stop talking about it.

The cadet in charge of our group was Suhaib Hassoun. Cadets who attended include the following:
