Joseph Gonzales is a three year varsity wrestler at Hueneme High School. He wrestles in the 172 pound weight class. He has dedicated the last three years to improving both his wrestling skills and his physical endurance.

His tenacity has paid off with 2 consecutive Pacific View League championships and 2 placements at CIF. This year he qualified for the CIF Master’s Wrestling Championships, which no Hueneme wrestler has done since 2010. The Master’s Tournament is this weekend at Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario.

Joseph also serves as a team leader and mentors the novice wrestlers. His steadfast commitment to succeeding is noticeable in his gregarious wrestling style on the mat, which is balanced with his quiet and studious nature off the mat in his quest to remain on track toward graduation.
At Masters, Joseph will need to dig deep as he vies for one of the coveted top nine placements of the elite group of athletes to qualify to participate in the California State Wrestling Championships at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield next weekend.
