The Drag Racing against Drugs and Graffiti (DRAGG) After school Program is a collaboration with OUHSD and the Oxnard Police Department as well as community sponsors, to provide youth a unique learning experience and an introductory opportunity for exposure to a potential career path. The classes are taught by high school instructors and graduates of the program earn 5 credits in either Introduction or Intermediate Transportation Technology. The 15-week program is open to grade 11-12 students and classes are 2 days a week after school.

DRAGG provides an alternative to gangs and graffiti through a positive learning opportunity that teaches participants responsibility and respect for others in the unique environment of the automotive industry, while gaining hands on exposure to knowledge of automotive careers. The program arranges for guest speakers and class field trips to auto industry manufacturers, auto museums, and local fleet service shops. Our students have the opportunity to participate in various weekend community events, car shows and raceway events. Participants who excel in the program are also provided the opportunity to continue their automotive education through small college scholarships, internships and job placement.

14 OUHSD students were recognized for their successful completion of the Fall Semester program at the DRAGG Graduation on January 22nd.
