One important lesson we can all learn from is to help those in need. December is the time of year that reminds us to be thankful for what we have. Oxnard High School’s ASB and Peer Resource classes joined forces with many other students on the campus to give back. Not only did the school as a whole collect over 6,000 cans for Food Share and several hundred dollars for the VC Rescue Mission last month, but they also collected donations to support the Toys For Tots program. The student of OHS are proud to be giving away over $300 in toys for the children who would not be able to receive any gifts this Christmas. With the help of ASB’s Ms. Houston and Amelia Veronica, the students packed carts full of toys for boys and girls of all ages. Students also purchased blankets and food donations then headed out to the Camarillo Animal Shelter to help support our furry animal friends in need of warmth during these chilly evenings. On Saturday December 13th, over 75 students helped at the VC Rescue Mission Annual Toy Shoppe where they helped with clothing and toy donations, food and craft tables, children’s entertainment and safety. Students also gathered in full force to find donations of gift cards and Christmas trees for our own students with families in need. These heart-warming donations are an excellent give-back, and act as uplifting song for the innocence. It is truly a wonderful spirit of giving back at OHS and we know this is the start to a full year of giving back to our community in 2015.
