Two thousand Hueneme High School students packed the football stadium, but it wasn’t for a nighttime football game. This time, faculty, staff, and students had the opportunity of listening to a very special guest speaker, Nick Vujicic. Many students have heard of or have seen Nick before; yet, even more have never heard his name until they saw him in the stadium. Visiting as many as 20 countries each year, Nick found time to visit HHS and teach us to be an inspiration TO others and FOR others. He reminded us to take care of each other and not to be so quick to judge. All of us can follow that advice, from students, to teachers; from coaches to the janitors; and everyone in between.
Even in his busy schedule, Nick found time to take pictures with the staff and the wonderful students! Yet, even his busy schedule found him being whisked away to another school so that he could teach those students how to be inspiring to others, too. What energy he had, and what smiles he continued to share as he told his stories — many good ones, and even the not-so-good ones sometimes … but that didn’t keep Nick from making us laugh and smile as we thought seriously about the message he brought to us that morning.
Nick will be speaking at Seaside Park/Ventura County Fairgrounds this Saturday. The Spanish presentation will begin at 3:00 and the English presentation will begin at 6:00. The event is free. If you get a chance to see Nick, be prepared for an inspiring visit!
Maybe he’ll even share the story about the day he was at the beach, “buried” in the sand … 🙂
