Under the bright lights, facing his team’s arch rival, smack dab in the middle of a bases-loaded jam, Rio Mesa High sophomore pitcher Ryan Abraham had one big fear in the top of the seventh inning Friday night.
“I was nervous that coach (David Soliz) would take me out of the game,” he said with a smile.
Not on this night, it turned out.
After a hit, error, sacrifice and walk loaded the bases for Camarillo with one out, Abraham notched back-to-back strikeouts to complete a two-hit shutout and post a dramatic, 1-0 victory over the Scorpions on a historic night for Pacific View League baseball.
