November 1, 2013 – For the twenty ninth year in a row, the Oxnard High School Marching Band & Auxiliary continues its tradition of “Keepin’ the Music Alive” by hosting its 29th annual Marching Band Field Competition! The public is invited to experience a night of pageantry and spectacular performances from over 18 high school marching bands — with more than 1,400 musicians. This event is the band’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
The competition will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Bud Houser Stadium, Oxnard High School (3400 West Gonzalez Road, Oxnard,).
“The marching band students share a camaraderie and sense of purpose that most other students can only imagine. Our students make friends and build relationships that last a lifetime! Marching band is not just extra-curricular activity, but a positively life changing experience. The personal growth and leadership skills these kids develop from this experience are tremendous” says Band Director Fundi Legohn who kicks off his 22st marching band season with Oxnard High School this year. “It is through fundraisers like this, and the ongoing generous support of our community and local businesses that the OHS Band Boosters are able to raise funds to support the OHS instrumental music programs. Without this support, it would be impossible for our band provide the quality music program we all enjoy and that enriches the high school and members of community”.

In case of rain, the competition will take place in the OHS Gymnasium.
The winning bands will receive awards and trophies which will be presented by OHS Principal Eric Riegert, local dignitaries and VIP guests. The event is open to the public.
