RIO MESA SPARTAN DARLENE SERROS will be attending the High School Presidential Inaugural Conference and joining fellow Inaugural Scholars at this inspiring program to be held in Washington, D.C., January 19-23, 2013, in conjunction with the Inauguration of the President and Vice President of the United States.

Darlene was chosen to attend this unique and historic event exclusively as a member of the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS)! The Presidential Inaugural Conference shares NSHSS’s commitment to the highest standards in education, and through their partnership, provided the opportunity to attend and receive a $200 credit toward program tuition.

  • On Inauguration Day itself, when the President and Vice President of the United States take their public oaths and are sworn into office, she will be in the middle of the inaugural festivities on the National Mall.
  • She will have private access prior to the general public to the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and enjoy a special Inaugural Parade viewing party and luncheon.
  • On Inauguration evening, she and fellow Inaugural Scholars will enjoy an exclusive, private concert at the beautiful Gaylord National Resort Hotel and Convention.
  • She will meet Mr. Claes Nobel, senior member of the Nobel family that established the Nobel Prizes, and Mr. James Lewis, co-founders of NSHSS, who will be addressing the Inaugural Conference as honored guests.
  • To conclude the Conference, she will attend a black tie and gown (optional) Gala Inaugural Celebration at the stunning National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, home to thousands of aviation and space artifacts, including the Space Shuttle Discovery, which flew 39 successful missions to space.
