Without the financial support of the City of Camarillo, Meadowlark Service League, Saving Lives Camarillo, and numerous other service organizations, local businesses, and generous individuals, Rio Mesa parents could not have been able to provide nearly 300 RMHS juniors, seniors, and their guests with an all-night party to cap off prom night.
An impressive 70-plus parents, teachers and staff volunteered their time in some form to pull off this huge undertaking. It almost seems like too much effort for just one night—albeit an amazing one—of entertainment, food, prizes and fun. But for every student who attended, that meant one fewer teen out on the road or at a house party or hotel, possibly engaging in risky behavior that too often takes the innocence and sometimes the lives of our high school students.
Finally, Rio Mesa’s students themselves are to be commended for conducting themselves like true ladies and gentlemen, enthusiastic and fun-loving but respectful and appreciative. It was a joy to see them having a great time and a pleasure to be a part of this annual event. I am a proud parent, a loyal Spartan mom, and so gratified that our community values programs supporting our youth.
