On behalf of the Board of Education of the Oxnard Union High School District, Superintendent Gabe Soumakian invites you to share in the celebration of the dramatic increase in the Academic Performance Index (API) test results. Members of the community, civic organizations and parents also are invited to attend the 10 a.m. press conference on Wednesday, Oct. 3 Thursday, October 11, at Pacifica High School.

OUHSD has demonstrated significant increases during the 2011-2012 school year in student academic performance as measured by the California Standard Test (CST). Dr. Soumakian will share the official results the California Department of Education is releasing to the public on the same day. The superintendent will also share specific growth targets that were met and how the District is closing the achievement gap with all sub groups, including English Learner, Students with Needs and Socially Economically Disadvantaged.

“The future looks bright for our district as we redesign the high school experience for the 21st Century Learner,” Dr. Soumakian said.

OUHSD also will announce the Education Foundation Board members who will support the implementation of the 21st Century Skills linking learning to students’ college and/or career pathways. Business and community leaders have an opportunity to collaborate and work in partnership to continue to improve the quality of education for our students.
