Scorpions earn PVL split

The Camarillo High girls’ basketball team earned a share of the Pacific View League championship after defeating visiting Rio Mesa 67-53 on Tuesday.

The Scorpions and Spartans split the season series to share the league hardware. Rio Mesa toppled Camarillo 53-49 on Jan. 19. Both squads finished 9-1 in PVL action.

On Tuesday, Lynn Leaupepe led the Scorpions with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the floor. The sophomore guard collected eight rebounds.

Senior point guard Breanne Gascon tallied 13 points and five assists, while Camarillo teammate Rachel Schienbein added 10 points and four rebounds.

Camarillo enters the CIF-Southern Section Division 2A playoffs 21-6 overall. Basketball playoff brackets will be released on Sunday at www.cifss.org
