Needing a win over chief rival Rio Mesa to clinch at least a share of the Pacific View League title, the Camarillo High golf team turned to Johnny Ruiz and Joe Ahn to provide the spark, and like they have all season, the two seniors came through in a big way.Ruiz earned medalist honors with a 1-under-par 70 and Ahn tossed in a very efficient 3-over 74, helping the Scorpions (13-1, 8-0) to claim a 401-418 victory.

A win on Thursday over Oxnard will clinch the league title outright for Camarillo, but both Ruiz and Ahn said getting at least a share of title with Tuesday’s win was very satisfying.

“It’s a good feeling to know the worst that we can be is co-champions,” Ruiz said. “It’s nice to be undefeated in league and we’ve only lost once all year, so it’s been a good season so far.”
