The Rotary Club of Oxnard continues its Teacher Recognition program for teachers in the Oxnard School District and the Oxnard Union High School District. For the second year, the Rotary Club provides a gift basket and plaque of recognition for six teachers, three in each school district, for their outstanding teaching and service to their students, to parents, and to their school. The Teacher Recognition program continues the efforts of Rotary to thank those in the community who give outstanding “Service Above Self”, the motto of Rotary International.

Nominated by her Principal, Bijou Beltran, members of the Rotary Club of Oxnard bestowed this honor on Pacifica High School teacher Linnea Howe on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. A veteran and dedicated teacher, Ms. Howe exemplifies “Service Above Self.” As the Culinary Academy lead, she ensures that The Culinary Academy provides a rigorous curriculum to prepare academy students for post-secondary education and training that will assist the students in making informed career choices.

Special thank you to the following individuals for their continued efforts to support our community and to County School Federal Credit Union for their monetary contribution: Dr. Gabe Soumakian, OUHSD Superintendent, Robert Foster, John Clay Jr., Phyllis Throckmorton, Rotary Club of Oxnard and Su-Lin Rubalcava, County Schools Federal Credit Union
