The Rotary Club of Oxnard continues its Teacher Recognition program for teachers in the Oxnard School District and the Oxnard Union High School District. For the second year, the Rotary Club provides a gift basket and plaque of recognition for six teachers, three in each school district, for their outstanding teaching and service to their students, to parents, and to their school. The Teacher Recognition program continues the efforts of Rotary to thank those in the community who give outstanding Service Above Self, the motto of Rotary International.
On March 22nd, members of the Rotary Club of Oxnard bestowed this honor on Channel Islands High School teacher Paul Matthews. A veteran and dedicated teacher of 35 years, Mr. Matthews goes out of his way to help students in and out of the classroom. As a teacher of Health Education, he instills in his students life-long attitudes and values for sound nutrition and healthy life styles. Mr. Matthews exemplifies those characteristics of all the great teachers at Channel Islands High School.
