Selig certainly hasn’t let the memories get him down this season. Nor did he allow himself to get spooked by returning to Moorpark.
At Friday’s Ventura County Track and Field Championships, Selig was involved in four Rio Mesa victories. He won the 200 meters in 21.74 seconds, ran the second leg of the winning 4×100 relay team that won in 41.69, anchored the 4×400 relay team that won in 3:22.28, and broke the meet record in the long jump in 24 feet, 1¼ inches.Earlier this season, Selig competed at Moorpark in the Don Green Invitational.
“I don’t think there is any lingering fear,” Rio Mesa coach Brian FitzGerald said. “Not at all. Probably where those yellow triangles are right out there is not a good memory for him. But that’s not even in his thinking because that was just a freak thing.”
