Pre-Engineering Academy Graduation

Graduation was held on Monday, May 21, 2012, for the 14 OUHSD graduates from the Fall Pre-Engineering Academy. Parents, administrators, counselors, teachers and friends attended the graduation. Phyllis Throckmorton, Director of Career and Technical Education, welcomed everyone. Captain (Sel) Scott Davis Commander, Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division, and OUHSD Superintendent, Gabe Soumakian, were the featured speakers. Captain (Sel) Scott Davis and Phyllis Throckmorton presented the certificates to the graduates.

This valuable learning opportunity engages OUHSD students and engineers at NAVSEA, Port Hueneme. The 11-week program meets each Monday from 3:15 until 5:30 p.m. and is offered both the Fall and the Spring semesters. During these classes students get hands-on experience to explore the fields of electronic and mechanical engineering, and computer science as a career. Upon completion of the program the students receive 2.5 credits of Independent Math/Pre-Engineering Credit. .

Congratulations to the Graduates Adolfo Camarillo High students, Erika L. Yoon, Mia C. Prieto, Bianca J. Burton; Channel Islands High students Erik R. Castellanos, Maria E. Espitia, Jose E. Montelongo; Hueneme High student, Max Cuevas, Kelsey R. Hoover; Oxnard High School students, John S. Yaw, Kalyn E. Nelson, Jasmine J. Loring, Ryan T. Le; Pacifica High School students, Hector C. Ramos, Angelica J. Bonilla. There were also Students from El Camino High School, Buena High School, Foothill Technology High School and Ventura High School who also graduated from the program.
