Nick Davis threw five touchdown passes, three of them to senior Tauran Nixon, as surging Pacifica defeated Channel Islands 42-28 on Friday night to improve to 3-0 in the Pacific View League. The victory sets up a crucial battle next week against Camarillo, the other 3-0 team in the PVL.
Pacifica, which outgained Channel Islands 482-245 in total yardage and had 26 first downs, was very efficient running the ball with 227 yards on the ground. However, Davis (14 of 23) finished with 255 yards in the air and nearly doubled his season total of six touchdown passes.
“Our line blocked great and my running backs, too,” said Davis, who compiled 195 of his 255 yards passing in the first half. “They were in one-on-one coverage. … My receivers ran great routes.”
