Perhaps Dan Wade deserves better.
Maybe he deserves to score more points, to be more of a star. But Oxnard High’s 5-foot-10, 170-pound guard will have none of it. Wade would rather be a facilitator than a phenom.
Wade is fourth among area boys basketball players in assists with 4.7 per game while still having a scoring average (15.6) high enough to be 10th in the county. He is also fourth in the area in 3-point shots made at 2.6 per game. Wade is 67 for 161 (41.6 percent) from beyond the arc.
The real value Wade has for the Yellowjackets, however, has more to do with qualities that are not as easily quantified.
