Almost 900 Oxnard Union High School District teachers and support staff members received good news to start off the school year at a back-to-school rally today at Pacifica High School in Oxnard.
Superintendent Gabe Soumakian revealed preliminary academic performance index score estimates that show the districtwide numbers rose from 726 in 2011 to 754 in 2012. API numbers measure the performance of students on a battery of standardized tests administered throughout the school year.
“Most school districts would be happy with an increase of 10 points a year,” Soumakian told the standing-room-only crowd. “These are estimates, but they are very good.”
The actual state API numbers will be released Oct. 3, he said.
