Playing before a large, boisterous home crowd, the Oxnard High girls volleyball team won a pivotal Pacific View League game Tuesday night, defeating Camarillo 3-0.

Although the Yellowjackets swept, they had to battle for nearly two hours to do so, coming from behind in the latter stages of all three games.

“It was a struggle to say the least,” said Oxnard head coach Patrick Casey, whose squad improved to 11-10 overall and 2-0 in league. “Defensively, we played very well, I thought, but we had too many mistakes on the other side.”

Oxnard survived five game points and seven service errors to win game one 31-29, closing out the 45-minute test on a spike by Hope Stewart, who finished with a match-high 19 kills.
