On Thursday, March 29th, the twenty-nine senior students in the Law and Public Services Academy at Oxnard High School were each interviewed for a job. The assignment was part of their capstone year in the program. The students had the privilege of being interviewed by attorneys, police officers, firefighters and post-secondary partners. The LAPS Academy would like to thank Marnie Melendez, Chad Carroll, Michael Sment and Tenille Chacon for participating in this process. Several Oxnard High teachers also volunteered their time. Thank you to Marcell Brickey, Joycelin Berry, Melissa Harper, Jan Quilantang and Joann McQuaid.

Our industry partners were impressed by our students’ dedication to their future and were looking forward to our students becoming involved in the public services sector. They also provided individual and detailed feedback to each student to help them improve their interviewing skills. Following the interviewing process, our partners remained for lunch and served as mentors answering questions about each of their roles in our community and motivating our students to remain committed to their goals. Thank you again to those involved for making this event meaningful and motivational for our academy seniors.
