The 1-2 rushing attack of Adam Espinosa and Andrew Valenzuela is tough for any team to slow down.

When the Oxnard High football team is able to complement its running game with an efficient passing attack, the Yellowjackets become that much tougher to beat.

Oxnard continued its resurgence in Pacific View League play with a 40-7 rout of visiting Channel Islands on Friday night. The win heightens next week’s rivalry game in the battle for Gonzalez Road with Oxnard (5-4, 3-1) and Pacifica (4-5, 3-1) with second place in the PVL likely on the line.

“Our kids like to play them, so that’s a good thing,” Mark Beckham said of Pacifica. “That will be a good game.”
