May I take this opportunity to express my sincere appreciation to the Board of Trustees of the Oxnard Union High School District, the Camarillo City Council and their respective staffs for their forward-thinking progress on the soon-to-be new high school in the city of Camarillo.

May I also laud the group of 25 concerned parents, Chamber of Commerce members, educators and community leaders who are serving on the task force to better define the future of the educational systems in Camarillo and the surrounding area.

I am aware of the countless hours these individuals have spent attempting to fine tune requirements for the new high school, as my mother, Frances Daily, served on the initial commission to look into the feasibility of a new high school in Camarillo in 1952-53. The outcome, recommended to the Oxnard Union High School Board back in 1953, was a new school, our own Adolfo Camarillo High School.

The new Camarillo Academy High School, in my estimation, promises to meet the educational needs of the community for the future. I spent 34 years in education in our district, and as a professional, it is my firm belief this school will enhance the learning experiences of our students attending there. We currently have such a positive experience in our existing schools for our children that this can be no less than a positive step into the future for them. It is “all about our kids.”
