May I also laud the group of 25 concerned parents, Chamber members, educators and community leaders who are serving on the community task force to better define the future of the educational systems in Camarillo and surrounding area. I am well aware of the countless hours these individuals have spent in attempting to fine-tune the requirements for the new high school to be built in Camarillo, as my mother, Frances Daily, served on the initial commission to look into the feasibility of a new high school in Camarillo back in 1952 and 1953. The outcome of that study was Adolfo Camarillo High School.
The new Camarillo academy high school, in my estimation, promises to meet the educational needs of the community for the future. I spent 34 years in education in our district, and as a professional it is my firm belief that this school will enhance the learning experiences of our students who will be attending our new academy high school. We currently have such a positive experience in our existing schools for our children that this can be no less than a positive step into the future for them. And it is “all about our kids.”
I urge you to actively support the combined efforts of our Oxnard Union High School District board, our City Council, our community task force group and other concerned parents and residents in attempting to bring this matter to a rapid and final completion. With a concerted effort, we in Camarillo have always been able to attain the best for our community. Let’s jointly maintain that great record.
