As Camarillo High School went through four principals, 15 assistant principals and three athletic directors during her tenure, Virginia Meyerson remained a constant presence.

Over the last two decades, anyone who visited Camarillo High School grew accustomed to seeing Meyerson in the school office. This winter, she decided it was the right time to step away from her post. She will officially retire Dec. 29.

“I enjoy a challenge,” Meyerson said. “I enjoy knowing everything I know. It also reached a point where I truly felt I was the last old lady standing on this campus, and with all of our changes through the years, clerically, I have so much knowledge in my head because I go back 22 years of the way things should be run.”

Meyerson started at Camarillo High in 1988 as a part-time health clerk and was hired full-time as school secretary in 1990. Meyerson saw her role quickly expand from there, and she made it her own.
