The Oxnard Union High School District is proud to recognize high school students who are proficient in English and in another world language with the State Seal of Bi-literacy. Over 150 students will receive the seal this year in world languages such as French, German, and Spanish. This California Department of Education – State Seal of Bi-literacy program recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English.

In an effort to promote awareness on the importance of being bilingual and bicultural, HHS students in the Spanish for native speakers program will author and present their very own short stories in Spanish to local elementary school students.
The 6th Annual Children’s Literacy Fair will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012. This year our fair will feature: Four plays (in Spanish) presented by our Spanish Advanced Placement classes, a French sing-a-long workshop, a Mixteco story, a folklorico workshop, and songs and stories in other world languages.
