For the seniors graduating Thursday from Frontier High School, their past was history and all that mattered was that they were receiving their diplomas and moving toward the future.

Standing in line with the rest of her graduating class was 18-year-old Jennifer Ackerman from Camarillo. She said she dropped out of high school in her freshman year, but eventually returned. And she’s glad she did.

“It was definitely challenging, but I credit the Frontier staff for helping me through,” said Ackerman, who will be attending Ventura College.

Oxnard resident Jordan Alvarado, 18, said he had some challenges to reaching graduation day, but he was excited to start college. He had plans to go to California Lutheran University and become a veterinarian.
