Brett Davis is a third-generation Hueneme High football coach after accepting the position last Friday.
Oxnard’s Davis, 31, follows a family tradition with his grandfather Jack Davis, who coached the Vikings from 1965 to 1973, compiling a record of 43-34-4. Jack Davis, a 1995 Ventura County Sports Hall of Famer, was the head coach of Oxnard High from 1979 to 1992, posting a 92-53-3 mark. Jack Davis has been living in Poteau, Okla., since 1993.
Former Hueneme coach Larry Miller was a star player on the Jack Davis’ 1969 Channel League championship team.
