Corbin Covey was adamant the county catches record wasn’t on his mind.

Well, maybe it wasn’t completely absent.

“No, not at all,” Covey said. “OK, maybe it was floating around there, but our main goal tonight was to get the ‘W.’ ”

The senior wide receiver caught 14 passes for 141 yards Friday night to beat Richard Mullaney’s 2010 record of 122 for Thousand Oaks and finish the regular season with 124 catches. The record-setting performance came as part of the Camarillo High football team’s 41-7 rout of host Rio Mesa.
