Darian Roy gathered her teammates together and drew a line under a week that tore at the fabric of the Camarillo High girls’ soccer team.”I told everyone to just to block everything out and play our game,”said Roy. “That’s what happened. People connected and it worked out.”

From sweeper Sirena Seymour cutting out chances at the back to Roy leading the charge up front, the Camarillo High girls soccer team opened postseason play Friday afternoon with the type of solid, steady performance befitting a team with plenty more postseason matches to play.

Freshman Karly Garcia earned a shutout in her first complete match in goal and sophomore forward Angelique Cabral had a goal and an assist as Camarillo eliminated visiting Colton with a 3-0 win in the first round of the CIF-Southern Section Division 5 playoffs.
