On January 10, 2012, Oxnard Union High School District’s College and Career Advisory Board meeting was held at Oxnard High School. This advisory board is a group of people who both represent and are considered experts in a specific career which meets to provide advice and counsel on matters pertaining to blended programs of Career Technical Education and Academic Core Programs. This College and Career Advisory Board meeting went to the next step of collaboration by providing a night of learning with Keynotes on the Economic Forecast by Mr. Bruce Stenslie, President Ventura County Economic Development Collaborative and Panel Discussions by members of the community and business leaders: Dr. Cynthia Herrera, Oxnard College, Mr. Tony Skinner, IBEW, Mr. Cris Hagen, SEMTEC, and Mr. Tom McGrath – Agriculture. Dr. Gabe Soumakian, OUHSD started the presentation with discussion on 21st Century Learning. Thank you to Phyllis Throckmorton, Director of CTE and Cecilia Tamayo, Director’s Secretary, CTE for providing OUHSD staff members, administration and business and college leaders to work together to build our future leaders.
