Jake Maulhardt – Senior
Camarillo lost 52-28 to Canyon Country Canyon High on Sept. 23, but the 6-foot-7 wide receiver did everything he could to help his team win. Maulhardt set the state record for receptions in a single game, catching 28 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns – on receptions of 21, 25 and 37 yards. The previous state record had stood for 23 years. According to the Cal-Hi Sports record book, David Sepulveda of Fullerton High held that record – 26 catches, set in 1988 against Buena Park High. One-on-one coverage, double coverage, triple coverage – none worked against Maulhardt. His performance stands No. 4 all-time in the national record book. Maulhardt helped Camarillo quarterback Michael Marin, a sophomore making just his third varsity start, complete 41 of 54 passes for 416 yards and four touchdowns. Maulhardt’s list of potential college destinations is currently topped by Boise State.
