If you didn’t know it was Travis Valdez’s first start Friday night, it would have been hard to tell from his performance on the field.

The Camarillo High quarterback made a seamless transition back into the starting lineup after missing the first four games of the season while recovering from a broken left wrist.

Valdez commanded a high-scoring Camarillo offense to a 49-15 rout of visiting Oak Park in the Scorpions’ last nonleague game before Pacific View League play begins next week.

“I felt like my team really welcomed me back, helped me out with plays, helped me out with everything,” Valdez said. “The (offensive) line did a great job.”
