The warm Los Angeles Dodgers blanket and hot chocolate kept Alicia Vasquez, a student at R.F. Frank Intermediate School, toasty as the cold Santa Ana winds created an appropriately seasonal chill Saturday for Oxnard’s Christmas parade and tamale festival in Plaza Park.”I like the bands and everybody from the high schools and I like when Santa comes,” Vasquez said, adding that she has asked Santa for a new softball bat this year.
With more than 90 entries, the parade took more than four hours and included marching bands from area high schools, dance troupes, mariachi bands, equestrian groups, martial artists and a wide representation of the many organizations and businesses in Oxnard.
Pablo Ortiz, a board member of the Oxnard Downtown Management District, was an announcer along with Flo LaManno at the main parade review stand at Plaza Park.
