The English Learner conference held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Hueneme High School, “Talk About Learning” was a great success. Hueneme High School students, faculty and staff hosted the EL conference this year along with the NJROTC students who welcomed all teachers, counselors and administrators to the conference. In all 130 teachers, counselors and administrators registered for the conference.The conference highlights were an EL student panel, Dr. Norm Gold’s presentation on current research based information on English Learners, outstanding workshops provided by our OUHSD teachers, and new posters were given for all classroom teachers promoting academic vocabulary “Modeling Academic Vocabulary in the Classroom”.
