A powerful 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup and a strong group of supporting players.
If you look at the blueprint used by Oxnard and La Reina, two of the top high school girls golf teams in the area this season, you will discover an abundance of similarities.
Oxnard’s success starts with seniors Katie Rice and Drew Thomas, both who are already committed to playing Division I college golf next year. Rice is the defending Pacific View League MVP, while Thomas opened the season by shooting a school-record, 4-under 68 to help get the Yellowjackets off to a roaring start.
“Katie and Drew are close friends and are a source encouragement one another,” said Oxnard head coach David Sveiven. “Having two players of this caliber on the same team is unusual, and we don’t take it for granted.”
