At the September 14, 2011 Board meeting, OUHSD Board of Trustees received favorably the presented recommendations of a comprehensive/academy instructional setting in Camarillo, CA by the Educational Concepts Ad Hoc Committee. The new school would have a partnership connection among students, parents, staff and community focusing on shared resources, internships, real world experience and community service. Students from Camarillo and Somis would have the first opportunity to enroll and a lottery system would be made available if there is unused capacity. Recommended Academic emphasis would be through generalized course of study including: Arts, Media and Entertainment, Engineering and Design and Biomedical Technology and Services. This information tied in closely as the board also approved the beginning design plan negotiations with HMC architecture firm for the new school in Camarillo, CA. HMC references include a Learning Center & Hillcrest High School for the Alvord Unified School District and Edison School/Pacific Park for the Glendale Unified School District.
