
A spent Rio Mesa High team ended a strong showing at the Oxnard Boys Water Polo Tournament with a 15-7 loss to Pasadena Poly in the championship game at Rio Mesa High on Saturday afternoon.”All of our games were tough this weekend,” said Rio Mesa coach Derrick Timmons of the two-day tournament. “We just looked pretty tired (in the final.) Overall, it was a good tournament.”In the championship game, Joe Yamamoto had four goals and Zack Davis had a goal. Kyle Walthall made eight saves in goal.The Spartans reached the final by beating Malibu 13-9. Yamamoto had five goals. Dominic Passono and Zac Wolmack each scored three goals.
