During Wednesday’s CIF Northern Team Golf Divisional at Soule Park, three players — including La Reina High’s Divya Manthena and Shannon Holden of Royal — were forced to withdraw because of injury. There were times when Thousand Oaks junior Sophia Chen may have also contemplated pulling out due to a painful elbow injury, but she managed to grind through the discomfort to post a 1-under-par 71, one of only two sub-par rounds on the day.

Chen’s solid round helped her team finish third overall with a team score of 421, making Thousand Oaks one of the four teams to earn a spot in next week’s CIF-Southern Section team finals in Solvang.

Oxnard finished a stroke behind Thousand Oaks with a 422, allowing the Yellowjackets to claim the fourth and final spot in the finals.
