On March 2, 2011, Oxnard High School Law and Public Services Academy (LAPS), participated in the statewide event Career Academies at the Capitol, where students in Career Partnership Academies met with legislators. LAPS students met with Julia Brownley, who welcomed the LAPS academy and spent a significant amount of time with our students in discussing issues relating to partnership academies and other pertinent school issues.

Students got a chance to speak with the Congresswoman about how the LAPS academy has positively changed their lives and their goals and hope for their futures. Congresswoman Brownley personally gave the students a tour of the Senate and Congressional floors as well as taking pictures with the students. This was an event that will be a lasting memory in all of these students lives.

We would like to especially thank Congresswoman Brownley for taking the time to spend quality time with the students from Oxnard High School.
