As I’m sure the school has begun to notice, Rio Mesa High School has recently been visited by multiple foreign exchange students from all over the world. One student in particular, Giulia Ortolani , stands out above the rest.

Giulia is a senior from Italy and although she is only staying In America for a few weeks, she is grateful for the experience. “(Rio mesa) Is so different from Italy. The food, the people, the classes. Everything is different”. Giulia is staying with Jordan Farrell for part of this semester for a true experience for what American lifestyle is like.

Giulia’s sister previously came to America for the foreign exchange student program. Her sister praised the experience and persuaded Giulia to travel to America as a foreign exchange student herself. After being in America for a couple of weeks, Giulia has made countless friends and fits in with the other students of Rio Mesa. She misses her family but manages to distract herself with her participation in track and field, ASB, and more.

“The people here are very differentfrom back home in Italy. It is easy to make friends”. Since Giulia has made so many friends here, I imagine it will be hard for her to return home. Giulia speaks English very well and is a friendly, energetic, talented, beautiful, loveable Italian. Rio Mesa is very lucky to have gotten to meet her.
