
When the successes of local high school students were counted, they were counted out.And if you had asked them a year or two ago if they thought much about a career, many would have said no.
But since Gilbert Romero and his wife, Sandra, along with their associate, Dominic Kardum, came into their lives in August, the 18 students of Frontier High School’s mock trial team will tell you that they are now defending their honor and their new career goals.
Kim Dallape got a letter in July requesting registration information for all schools interested in participating in next year’s Ventura County Mock Trial competition, scheduled for late February. The Frontier teacher took the letter to Principal Wayne Lamas, and the two agreed to establish a team, becoming the first continuation high school in Ventura County to take part in the annual event.
