Hunter Virant and Sandy Koufax have something in common.

Virant, a junior southpaw for the Camarillo High baseball team, hurled a perfect game Tuesday at home against Rio Mesa during an 8-0 victory.

The Scorpion pitcher, who has verbally committed to UCLA, had eight strikeouts in the masterpiece, helping Camarillo improve to 5-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pacific View League.

Virant added a hit and scored two runs.

Camarillo’s Taylor Hansen, who’s headed to San Diego State in the fall, went 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Kenny Overly, Aaron Martinez and Justin Chamberlain also drove in runs for the Scorpions.
