Camarillo is the Star Cup large schools champion

Camarillo High finished atop the pack in the county by earning a CIF-SS championship in softball, nine Pacific View League championships and 17 victories in CIF-SS postseason.

Among other laurels, the Scorpions’ boys cross country team placed sixth in the CIF-SS Division 2 championships, the boys volleyball team reached the Division 3 semifinals and the girls volleyball team advanced to the quarterfinals in Division 2A.

“It’s a tremendous honor because there are so many great sports programs in our county,” said Mike Smith, Camarillo’s athletic director and boys cross country coach. “We had a great group of students, led by our senior class. But it also takes dedicated coaches and parents. Twenty one of our 22 head coach are on campus, and we’ve got a group of assistant coaches who have been here a long time. It takes all that to be successful.” …
