Junior Jazzelena Black of Pacifica High broke the 24-year-old Ventura County girls triple jump record Thursday, leaping 39 feet, 1½ inches in a Pacific View League dual meet at Oxnard.

The previous record had been set by Sharon Manship of Thousand Oaks in 1987.

Black’s previous best jump was 37-7 set last year. That mark had been the county’s ninth best triple jump before Thursday.

Pacifica won the dual meet 65½-57½.
